Acidic marshes are conducive to peat formation, produced by decomposing moss.

On the edge of the Ile-de-France region, the Bonville grassland is part of a group of limestone grasslands occupying the Eure valley and its tributary valleys. These natural areas, rich from a botanical and entomological point of view, are threatened by the urbanisation of the hillsides or the overgrowth of trees, which leads to a reduction in biodiversity.
