Every year from April to October, Chartres en Lumières returns to transform the city into a nocturnal wonderland. When night falls, follow the spectacular light trail to discover a magical world of illuminations and marvel at historic buildings bathed in light and colours. This twinkly light walk is sure to make any viewer's jaw drop!

Chartres is an inspiring city to visit at any time of year, but summer is just that little bit more special. When the night falls, the facades of heritage buildings provide a spectacular backdrop for the immersive light experience “Chartres en Lumières”. Flamboyant light displays showcase the aesthetic features of the bridges and wash houses, the magnificent media library, the theatre, the church Saint-Pierre and the collegiate church Saint-André. Wandering hand in hand through the illuminated trail of historical landmarks couldn’t be more romantic!
Explore the crypt by candlelight
Notre-Dame de Chartres Cathedral is one of the most authentic and remarkable religious work of art of Middle Age christianity. This magnificent building takes on a different guise after dark on a special candlelit tour of the crypt, allowing visitors to explore the underground of the cathedral. Delve into the spooky world of this ancient crypt on an enigmatic visit with atmospheric Gregorian chants and sacred polyphonic music resonating in the background (goosebumps!).
