At the end of November and until mid-April, these animals are returned to the barn, protected from bad weather. Most of the births take place during this period. It is therefore important to keep them under cover. Approximately 40 breeding cows and their calves, heifers (young cows that have not yet had a calf) are housed in the buildings. In order to give them the best care, it is essential to live on the farm, in order to keep a close eye on the animals, especially at calving time. It is common for them to occur late in the evening, or even at night.
